Who I am

My name is Heather Huck (M.Ed., RCC). I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor Supporting Youth, Families, and Caregivers.

For almost 20 years, I have dedicated my career to guiding and supporting young people and their families through life's most complex challenges. My unique perspective is built on a foundation of experience as both a classroom teacher and a school counsellor, giving me an intimate understanding of the academic, social, and emotional pressures facing adolescents today. As a retired educator, I now bring my full focus to my private practice, offering a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space for youth and families to navigate issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, behavioural challenges, and family dynamics.

My approach is integrative and client-centred, drawing on evidence-based techniques tailored to each individual's needs. I am skilled in:

* Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - to address unhelpful thinking patterns.

* Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) - for emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.

* Solution-Focused Brief Therapy - to build on existing strengths and achieve practical goals.

* Grief Counselling - to process loss and find a path forward.

* Mindfulness-Based Practices - to cultivate present-moment awareness and reduce stress.

Above all, I am an empathetic and respectful listener. My passion is helping adolescents discover their strengths and empowering families to build deeper, more resilient connections.

I also extend this passion to a cause close to my heart, serving as a volunteer counsellor with the ALS Society of BC, providing crucial support and compassion to caregivers of individuals living with ALS or PLS.

It is a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they work toward healing, growth, and lasting positive change.
